experiences

🥇 key achievements

  1. solely responsible for narratives, marketing, and distribution for the entire product suite + token
  2. contributed to the Industry’s Bitcoin Staking best practices - https://babylonlabs.io/blog/babylon-bitcoin-staking-protocol-best-practices-for-bitcoin-lsts
  3. secured a partnership with Binance Wallet to provide native BTC staking on the Binance Mobile App
  4. managed to convert mindshare + distribution into onchain and token metrics: 9x TVL, 5x daily token trading volume; 15x market cap over 12 months
  5. received coverage in Binance Research as one of the first “BTCfi” projects + PSTAKE token listing on Binance Alpha
  6. coined and propagated the term “TVU” (Total Value Unlocked) instead of TVL in context of liquid staking unlocking liquidity
  7. designed a Stake-to-Earn campaign on Galxe with an inverse tiered reward mechanism (to push for $ value of stake and # of users at the same time) - an anon staked 3000 BNB (~$1M at the time)
  8. secured $6M in ATOM staked from a cosmos community pool spend proposal (owned idea, mechanism, stake distribution, validator lobbying to vote in favor of our proposal) + got diverse Cosmos DeFi protocols involved as a cohesive force to make the case of stkATOM
  9. moved the entire growth team functioning to Notion (from scattered workflows): came up with end-to-end processes and templates: campaigns, content ideas, narratives, growth objectives, result tracking, to-do lists
  10. identified an ongoing exploit with Ankr as a result of being terminally online; immediately woke up our team to minimize contagion; handled incident reporting + comms strategy; retained 90% of PSTAKE's BNB TVL (~$9M at the time)
  11. filled all CEX applications and liquid fund investment docs

⚙️ non-scalable things done

  1. made “₿m” a thing on CT (instead of gpstake or any other variation) with AI images that creatively showed Bitcoin scenarios coupled with a strong one-liner copy to be perceived as a category-leader e.g. → https://x.com/pStakeFinance/status/1938874779781734459?s=20
  2. grew a distribution list of 150+ touch points (projects, community channels, KOLs, VCs, research firms, PR, CEXs, news media, regional communities) + manually shared all key news to each
  3. did team-led marketing on Twitter before it was cool (in early 2023) with all externally active team members
    1. pfps from the same NFT collection: badkids
    2. profile names as “stkNAME” reflecting PSTAKE’s LST prefix as “stk”
    3. individuals distinctively responsible for one niche of the company: product, narrative/marketing/growth, tech
  4. ranked PSTAKE as #2 website on Google SEO for “liquid staking” by running a daily click campaign on Galxe + Zealy while regularly changing the URL destination to PSTAKE’s website/blog/landing page/app
  5. started multiple media series to improve distribution and positioning in liquid staking and BTCfi ecosystems
    1. stkSPACES: bi-weekly twitter spaces in 2023 focused on bringing the biggest voices in LSTfi in one place e.g. → https://x.com/pStakeFinance/status/1633184608350240770?s=20
    2. X talks bitcoin: weekly interview-style articles on Twitter with leaders at various BTCfi projects and legit KOLs to tap into a newer audience e.g. → https://x.com/pStakeFinance/status/1844108423505510484?s=20
    3. stacking sats: weekly fun and educational livestream capturing the journey of BTCfi project founders + what’s topical in crypto https://x.com/i/broadcasts/1dRKZdpQyQmJB
  6. went up against Stride, the biggest Cosmos LST competitor, when they launched a $40M TVL coup
    1. Stride posted a community pool spend proposal on the dYdX forum with an accelerated timeline
    2. i saw the post late at night (being terminally online)
    3. by morning, i had drafted our response strategy with
      1. narratives/points to tackle Stride
      2. forum response to the original post
      3. our own updated version of the proposal for a fairer, decentralized approach https://dydx.forum/t/drc-dydx-community-staking-with-pstake-finance/2486
    4. briefed the team about the situation and plan in the morning
    5. personally replied to all opposing arguments brought on economic security risks with PSTAKE on the forum
    6. engaged in validator lobbying by personally doing 1:1 calls with as many as possible
    7. ultimately, the proposal failed because the #1 validator on the network with ~30% stake delegation (also an investor in Stride) voted No https://www.mintscan.io/dydx/proposals/47
  7. created a custom internal list and scoring for KOLs based on research evaluation, previous campaigns engaged with, and engagement
  8. started a bite-sized weekly series on the co-founder’s Twitter about
    1. internal sprint cycle tasks + external objectives every Monday
    2. things achieved + key metrics every Sunday
  9. named onchain protocol upgrades with mountains through community vote for a more inclusive approach
